We are an all volunteer organization. All of the donations we receive at concerts go directly to the San Lorenzo Valley Middle School and High School Band programs.
Our members come from a wide cross section of Santa Cruz County. Most of us live in either Scotts Valley or the San Lorenzo Valley communities of Felton, Ben Lomond, Mt. Hermon, and Boulder Creek.
Requirements for membership are that you be able to play an instrument which is found in a standard concert band, that you are able to read music, and that your skill level is at least
that of an advanced level high school band student. There is no audition.
We meet on Thursday evenings in room F-1 at San Lorenzo Valley High School, 7105 Highway Nine, Felton, California. Rehearsals are from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
Our repertoire, is varied. We rehearse and perform Standard Marches, Folk Tunes, Musical Show arrangements, Novelty Tunes, Orchestral Transcriptions, Original Band pieces,
Big Band classics, TV themes, Classic tunes arranged for band. We perform about 4 - 5 times a year.
We collect a $25 fee from each regular member twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring. These fees are used for band expenses and to buy music which we in turn give to the high school music library. We are allowed to use the music facilities at the high school
and their equipment and music library free of charge.
